Fasika Moges studied art in Poland and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting. After he moved to Seattle he also studied Advertising Art at Seattle Central Community College. Fasika has been in a number of individual and group art exhibitions in Ethiopia and United States. Fasika’s works are sold in Italy, France, Poland, Sweden, Israel, and the United States. While the formal quality of his works is more abstract and of the non-traditional approach, the content of his paintings often refers to objects reflecting the Ethiopian way of life. In his paintings, Fasika incorporates the local musical instruments, Amharic alphabets, monuments, household utensils and so on. His paintings are however a mere representation, but statements through which he conveys his beliefs. Fasika currently lives in Seattle, where he continues to paint and works towards bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary artistic styles.
